My life in another country:
When I was 21, I spent four months in Japan—studying with
Shinichi Suzuki in Matsumato. I was able to learn enough Japanese to travel extensively by myself!
Why Whitefield:
Two of my children have graduated from Whitefield—and two
are current students! My family loves Whitefield!
Word in the halls:
Orchestra students can make money playing for parties and weddings!
Inside my classroom:
We enjoy playing classical, Irish, bluegrass, and popular music together!
My golden moment in teaching:
I had a student who was so shy as a child that she would not play in public unless she was hidden in the middle of the group. Later, as a teenager, she played the part of “Maria” in a production of The Sound of Music. She was wonderful; so confident! Her mom felt that her early violin lessons and performances built her confidence. She is now an attorney in New York City (and I hear that she is excellent in the courtroom)!
Outside of class:
I also run a Suzuki violin and cello school—and play the violin at various functions!
