About Whitefield and about my colleagues:
The Lower School staff works well together as a team because everyone truly cares about each other and all are willing to lend a helping hand.
Why I love being a Librarian:
When I was in elementary school, I would save my weekly allowances until I had enough to buy a book. I would eagerly anticipate the delightful dilemma of choosing which book to buy! As a teenager, I would walk two miles to the public library during hot Florida summers so I could check out books. Becoming a librarian was inevitable! Selecting the best literature available to add to our Lower School library collection and selecting which books to read to our students are pleasurable extensions of what I have always enjoyed doing.
Favorite lesson and my advice:
Look at everything to see how it has happened for you instead of to you.
Why Whitefield:
Prior to coming to Whitefield, I was the Children’s Librarian in a Public Library and I have also worked in two university libraries. While providing library services is fairly standardized, the work environment at Whitefield has been unique. Collaboration and coordination of programs on our campus are accomplished with a pervasive positive attitude toward helping each other out, so that everyone’s goals are met.
A book I would recommend:
The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman is a practical and informative way to look at the ways individuals function personally and in relationships. The author explains how becoming more understanding of our personality differences results in a more compassionate way of relating to others.
