Advice to parents:
Cherish each day … you can not change yesterday, you can pray for tomorrow, but you can truly impact today! Also, READ to you children every day. Helen Hunt in her book Honey For a Child’s Heart says, “Parents unconsciously teach their children what is valuable by the way they spend their own time. If television is more important to the parents than books, the children will likely choose the same.” Finding a time to read to or with your child each day, and guarding that time, will be a treasured gift that will bless you and your child!


Why I love teaching:
I teach Kindergarten! What’s not to love! These angels come bouncing into my room everyday from the first day to the end of the year … happy to be at school. They love school, they love their teachers, they are even excited to be getting homework! Some days may be bumpy, but there is an unconditional love that exudes from Kindergarteners. They love to learn and are enthusiastic about the world around them. They notice everything … it’s all new! Their enthusiasm is contagious! I truly do believe that the most important lessons you will ever learn in your life are taught right here. But the best part of all is when we come together to pray each day. I get to listen to their precious conversations with God, and through their pure innocence, He is glorified!

My Favorite Lesson:
Teaching the Bible lessons each day is by far the best part of my job! Teaching my students about God and His Word is such a joy, listening to them recite their verses each week; knowing that we are helping to lay the foundations of their Christian walk of faith in Jesus; watching as they decide during their play time to build the Tower of Babel with blocks…or march around the City of Jericho. Best of all, at the end of the year they realize that they can open the Bible and find the Psalms, and find the 100th Psalm, and that they can actually READ it! It just can’t get any better than that!

Me at home:
My husband John and I have been married 33 years. We were blessed to have three wonderful children—even though doctors told us we would probably have none! God is ever faithful! My miracle babies are Emily, 25, and living in Rome GA; Jack, 20, and attending Kennesaw State University; and Thomas, 16, a sophomore attending Whitefield. We also have a 7-year-old yellow lab named Tally. Our home is command central. Everyone is coming and going, and I am always trying to keep track of who I will be feeding on any given night. But the dog is always there for me to feed!
