Whitefield Academy A Christ-Centered College Preparatory School

Whitefield WolfPack

The Athletic Program at Whitefield encompasses almost 90 percent of the Upper School and Middle School student body each year.

In its brief history, #WhitefieldWolfPack has competed in eleven GHSA State Championships, earned seven state championships and sent more than 100 graduates to compete professionally or in the NCAA.

Whitefield fields 56 sports teams: including 21 varsity teams representing basketball, soccer, football, tennis, track and field, cross country, baseball, softball, wrestling, volleyball, golf, swimming, lacrosse, and cheerleading. Athletic programs for middle school students, including a fifth and sixth grade football team, prepare student athletes for varsity levels and beyond.

Whitefield also has comprehensive Strength & Conditioning and Sports Medicine programs, including a full-time athletic training staff committed to providing preventative care, immediate attention to injury, and rehabilitation services for athletes.

Coaches at Whitefield understand that an athletic program serves to accomplish much more than building athletic skill; the attitudes and actions practiced on the field or court are often a reflection of the way adversities in life are approached. Our coaches act as mentors and are committed to preparing students to honor Christ in all areas of life.

Sports Medicine

The Whitefield Academy sports medicine program provides quality sports preventative and injury care to the students of Whitefield Academy. Our full-time athletic trainers work closely with area physicians and team doctors to provide immediate and sustained care for students while also striving to establish trusting relationships with the athletes, coaching staff, parents, and the medical community.

Dr. James Kercher of Peachtree Orthopedics acts as team physician for all sports at Whitefield Academy.

Whitefield’s athletic training facilities include an ultrasound and stim machine, a game-ready, treatment tables, a taping table, spine boards, and defibrillators. The department also has an emergency cart available on-site if needed.

Whitefield Academy’s full-time athletic trainers provide evaluations to determine a safe participation status, preventative bracing and taping, and rehabilitative/reconditioning therapy to any athlete with an injury. Athletes who cannot participate in practice or contests are monitored while completing their rehabilitation program. Athletic trainers work with the athlete's treating physician to carry out any rehabilitative therapy prescribed and are prepared to deal with those injuries that occur throughout each practice or contest.

Student WolfPack Athletic Training Program

The Student WolfPack Athletic Training Program (SWAT) is comprised of student leaders who assist Whitefield Academy’s athletic trainers and team doctors. The students learn many valuable skills throughout the year such as how to treat open wounds, taping techniques, rehabilitation protocols, emergency action steps, and injury diagnosis. All SWAT team members are required to complete an entire season (fall, winter, or spring) in order to earn a varsity letter in athletic training. Through the experience, several of our SWAT team members have found a passion for athletic training and continued studying it in college.

Strength and Conditioning

The WolfPack Strength and Conditioning mission is to help athletes reach their maximum potential by creating fun and engaging training environments where athletes thrive.

We believe the weight room is the catalyst for a winning culture and that the common threads running through successful programs are: positive, uplifting attitudes; the ability to handle adversity; a relentless work ethic; and mental toughness and grit. It is our hope that these traits will begin and be fostered within our strength and conditioning program.

Through our program, students build a spirit of endurance and perseverance with the understanding that hard work is required to achieve great things. These are skills and attitudes that not only contribute to strength as an athlete, but also contribute to strength as a student, Christian, and community member.

PackBackers

PackBackers is the Whitefield WolfPack Booster Club supporting our athletic teams. Our mission is to:

  1. Encourage all players, coaches, and fans to be a witness for Jesus Christ and reflect positively on our school;
  2. Maximize the success of the school’s sports teams and athletes;
  3. Build support for the sports teams and athletes from the students, the parents, and the community;
  4. Help make participation in Whitefield sports a positive experience for every child and coach.

We accomplish our mission through the membership and participation of Whitefield parents.  We support all Middle School, Junior Varsity and Varsity teams and athletes, and we help to lay a positive foundation for the long-term future of Whitefield athletics by also supporting Lower School students and programs.  We encourage all Lower, Middle, and Upper School parents to join and volunteer with the PackBackers.

All funds raised are used to supplement our Athletic Department’s budget by enhancing and improving facilities, equipment, and opportunities for each athlete.  We strive to make sports a positive experience for every child, family, coach, and teacher. An investment in PackBackers is an investment in improving the game experience for every student-athlete, parent, and fan. Join us in supporting Whitefield Athletics through PackBackers membership, and please consider how your employer could benefit from PackBackers sponsorship.
