On June 13, the EMT left Atlanta:

We once again worked with the Fundación Amor y Esperanza (the Foundation of Love
and Hope) in and around Quito, Ecuador. This page lists various opportunities that
will allow for you to be involved…to be a part of the team. Your participation is
NOT something we take lightly. It is an amazing privilege to be able to go to Ecuador,
but much of the beauty comes in watching as the Body, here at Whitefield, begins
to work together to reach out to others. We know we can not do this without your
prayers and support. So read on about the various opportunities, but PLEASE begin
to pray for each of the members as well as the children and people of Ecuador. You
can find our more about the Foundation by visiting their site at
http://www.amoryesperanza.org/index.php.
Thank you so much for your generous donations at the Hasta La Pasta dinner. Your
support of the Ecuador Missions Team raised over $3,000. Praise God! Departing on
June 13, we were fully funded thanks to many in our Whitefield family. Special thanks
to the Kindergarten class that raised $500. We used the funds to buy paint to finish
3 new classrooms and 2 nursery rooms. Thank you for praying for us during our trip
and if you'd like to be on our email list contact us at

Have you ever noticed the splendor of a sunrise? There are many mornings when I
have wet eyes and am left without words as the first glimpses of a new day begin
to paint the sky. Actually, it is almost anything in or about nature: the sound
of a trickling brook, the glimmer of a child’s eyes, the smell of spring flowers,
and the thunder of children playing and laughing… Nature simply speaks to my heart
and reminds me of the creativity and detail of God’s handiwork. It is so beautiful,
and we are called upon to help nourish or even guard it.
This is the reason that we want to couple with the Ecology Club on a project that
they have started. They have been recycling paper all year; we want to add aluminum
cans to their effort. We want to help protect this amazing place that we all call
home, so new, shiny garbage cans have been placed around campus with the recycling
symbol on the lid. Bring the cans from work or home or church or wherever at the
time that is convenient for you. The members of the Ecuador Mission Team will be
periodically collecting the cans from the bins. All cans and paper can also be dropped
off behind Middle School Mod 300.
All proceeds will go directly to the Ecuador Mission Team. We will be nourishing
and protecting part of God’s handiwork; it is just in the eyes and lives of the
children. A big goal? Definitely. We serve a big God. The thing is that we CAN make
a difference to help protect God’s Creation—both the land and the people. This is
just our way of being a part. Thank you so much for all your help.

Our primary fundraiser, the dinner has become an annual event. Plan on joining us
next spring for delicious pasta, sauces, and desserts in the US gym mezzanine before
the Lower School Spring Musical, dates to be determined. The Ecuador Missions Team
will be sharing testimonies about their experiences. For more information stay tuned
