Welcome to the Lower School at Whitefield Academy! The Lower School provides a nurturing environment and a challenging academic program for children from pre-kindergarten through
fifth grade. The atmosphere of the classroom helps each child feel comfortable, safe, and loved, all in the context of rigorous study. Not only is Bible taught as a subject, but
our teachers, sharing their love and gift for instruction, serve as godly role models and teach the content areas from a Christian worldview. Teachers encourage the students to
perform at their very best while “putting others ahead of self.” At Whitefield, we are teaching for eternity because we realize that one of the more important decisions a child
can make during the formative years is to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It is the desire of every teacher that his/ her students come to a saving knowledge of Jesus
Christ and grow in that relationship.
Besides offering a challenging curriculum in the traditional basics (language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies), our academic program includes music, art, Spanish,
research and library skills, physical education, and technology. There are many opportunities for children to express themselves in areas other than academics: band, Celebration
Singers, a variety show, musical programs, chapel programs, and Fine Arts week. Additionally, each class sponsors an annual service project. This is a tangible way to teach children
that blessing others is a powerful way to witness to our community. Each grade crafts a program that is age appropriate.
Parents are a vital part of the educational team and at Whitefield we encourage parental involvement. On any given day, you will see parents assisting on field trips, helping
in the library, reading books as mystery readers, volunteering for class parties, providing refreshments for faculty meetings, and offering to help in a myriad of ways. Parental
participation is appreciated and valued.
Please stop by and visit our campus. You will feel as though you have left the greater-Atlanta area and have traveled miles into the countryside. We are building some outstanding
facilities and our grounds are immaculate, but it is not our physical campus that identifies Whitefield. I encourage you to visit us and meet our students, faculty, and staff.
You will leave with the knowledge that these people are making Whitefield Academy a great place to be!
