In the Middle School, each teacher will begin the year by looking at the Required Reading. We suggest that students read the required book near the close of summer vacation so
that they have a vivid remembrance of what they have read when classes begin. Though individual teachers might give different assignments, students can be assured that their teachers
will ask them to respond to the books with knowledge and insight through discussions, tests, and writing assignments. In addition to reading the required book, we expect students
to read one other book from the “Suggested List” and one other book of their personal choice. Students should read books they have not previously read. Anyone with questions about
summer reading in the middle school should contact
