Whitefield Students To Compete in Math Olympics

Lower and Middle School students at Whitefield Academy are preparing to compete in Math Olympics, an A.C.S.I. sponsored competition, on March 5, at Bridgeway Christian Academy in Alpharetta, GA. The competition begins at 12:25 pm with an opening assembly, followed by testing. Testing includes four rounds of 11-minute tests in two areas: computation and reasoning. A total of six participants per grade were selected from grades 3-8 to compete.

Participants in the computation category include third graders Noah Howard, Kameron Hughes, and Sarah Davis; fourth graders Joseph Schwartz, Bethany Saunders and Grace Blair; fifth graders Daniel Keith, Carson Brown, and Ethan Powell; sixth graders William Hellier, John Schwartz and Will Schultz; seventh graders Quinn Larimer, Megan Schwarzkopf, and Rachel Hicks; and eighth graders Sophie Kemether, Alex Manning and Elaine Sharitz.

Competing in the reasoning category are: third graders Evana Darby, Madison Sutherland, and Elley Stanga; fourth graders Jackson Williams, Patrick Spellissy, and Stephen Hellier; fifth graders Moriah Hopkins, Kathleen Stueve, and Brenner McCutcheon; sixth graders Jake Gilbert, Luke Miltner, and Logan Pearce; seventh graders Christian Cook, Marcus Jones, and Chaz Torres; and eighth graders Justin Brendel, Grace Miller and Sarah Marriott. Lower school teacher Michelle Marriott will be accompanying the team to the competition.
