Boys' Varsity Track wins Region Tournament

Congratulations to the Boys' Varsity Track team which recently won the Region 5A track meet! The team dominated the meet with 158 points, 53 points better than the second place winner, Our Lady of Mercy. Congratulations to these student athletes for a great season.

Special congratulations to the following athletes who helped secure the win in the Region meet, but also qualified for the State track meet:

Andrew Dunkleberger: Andrew returns to the State meet to defend his State title in the discus after finishing second in the Region with a throw of 136-8. He also finished 3rd in the shot put.

Cameron Thornton: Cameron returns to the State meet after finishing first in the 800m with a time of 1:57.92 and first in the 1600m with a time of 4:37.02.

John Alar: John is going to State in the high jump after finishing 2nd, clearing 5-10.

Christian Nash: Christian qualified for the State meet by winning both the 110m hurdles in a personal record time of 15:39 and the 300m hurdles in 42.14.

Pryce Washington: Pryce is going to State in the 110m hurdles with a second place finish in 16.10.

Murphy Alexander: Murphy qualified for the State meet by finishing 2nd in the 400m with a personal record time of 51.79.

During the Region 5A tournament, many personal records were set: Cameron Lemons finished 5th in the 100m and 3rd in the 200m with a new personal record time of 23.06; Bo Chambliss finished 6th in the 100m with a new personal record time of 11.51; Rex Willis finished 3rd in the 800m with a personal record time of 2:05.20. Rex also finished 4th in the 1600m with another personal record time of 4:45.03; Kenneth Gaines finished 3rd in the triple jump with a new personal record of 37-7.75. Cole Carroll finished 7th in the 3200m in a new personal record time of 11:00.94, which was a stunning 26 seconds faster than his previous PR!

All of our athletes were incredible performers, including, Kennard Backman who finished 6th in the 300m hurdles; Taylor Tutt who finished 5th in the high jump, 6th in the long jump and 6th in the triple jump; Travis Harris who finished 4th in the shot put; Hashim Rainey who finished 4th in the discus; and Kenneth Gaines also finished 7th in the long jump.
