In keeping with Whitefield Academy's mission statement to put "others ahead of self," several sixth graders recently planned their own fundraiser to help Haitian orphans. Meagan Rose Byers, Kristen Corliss, Anna Reeves McCutcheon, Harlan Kyle, Bethany Van Rensburg, and Sera Trapani set up their very own bake sale and lemonade stand early on a recent Saturday to raise money. The girls helped to bake, price, package and decorate all the baked goods as well as man their tent and wave down passers-by. In just a few short hours these sixth graders managed to make $286. The money was donated to the Global Orphan Project. Thanks to all who purchased goodies to help out some very needy children!
