Braves Win, Braves Win (‘Pack Band Performs, ‘Pack Band Performs Again!)
The event could have been lifted from a Hollywood script! On a perfect, balmy May evening - 71 members of the Wolfpack Band and color guard marched on the field at Turner Stadium to open the Braves matchup with the Mets. The ‘Pack entertained the fans with a medley of Michael Jackson tunes and then made their way to seats above 1st base. On cue, after the 7th inning stretch – the big screen featured the band rousing the crowd to “Cheer”; the ‘Pack also instigated “the wave” that circled the stadium twice.
Perhaps the best entertainment was yet to come! As the band filed from their seats towards the waiting buses – the drum line played spontaneously from the top of “the Ted” to the exit gates. At several points along the way the ‘Pack paused to perform while fans, concession
employees, (and even security guards!) began to dance. The finale and encore occurred at the exit ramp – as two uniformed Braves employees appeared at the top of the steps in an almost choreographed performance – and danced with the ‘Pack until the buses could wait no longer!
As we strive to instill in our students a desire to fill their lives with memories (not things!) – the night at Turner Field was more than memorable for the ‘Pack, the Whitefield parents, the fans
and the employees. (Oh, yes, the Braves won!)
