Whitefield families recently collected 25 used bicycles in order to help out the Fugees Family, a non-profit organization devoted to helping child survivors of war. The Fugees Family began as a a soccer team five years ago. At that time, Coach Luma Mufleh sought to provide refugee boys, who had been relocated to Clarkston from war-torn countries, with free access to organized soccer. Since then, the Fugees Family programming has grown to include year-round soccer for 86 boys aged 10-18, after-school tutoring, a private academy, and an academic enrichment camp.
This summer the Fugees Family needed bicycles in order for team members to take advantage of a summer school at Agnes Scott College. A total of 80 bicycles were collected from various businesses and schools. Thank you to those of you who donated a used bike!
