sequencing. Other language arts skills that are highlighted include auditory recognition
and discrimination augmented by overall good listening habits. Whitefield teachers
encourage the exploration of books and the love of reading.
Math utilizes a Houghton-Mifflin curriculum, while encouraging individual
exploration of patterning, sorting, counting, and sequencing—as well as numeral
recognition and application. Social studies combines an introduction of history
and geography relating to the United States— in addition to an exploration of American
holidays. The hands-on investigation of magnets, minerals, rocks, liquids, and energy
encourages the study of science. Studies of Biblical stories and verses seek to
instill the development of Christian character and purpose. PreK-4 students enjoy
special weekly classes of music, art, physical education, and Spanish. Recess is
a daily favorite!
