Welcome to Whitefield Academy’s College Counseling webpage. I have the privilege of working with our students throughout
all four years of high school but particularly in the junior and senior years. We should install a rotating door in the
college counseling office to accommodate the constant flow of students coming to explore and pursue the options available
to them beyond graduation.
From the student’s and parent’s point of view, the process is often a bit scary, sometimes overwhelming - and always involves
a great deal of hard work and energy. But from my point of view as a college guidance counselor, I am always amazed as the
process helps students define what is really important to them and builds a deeper relationship of trust between themselves
and God.
At Whitefield, we have all the elements in place to assist students in the right college decision: a second-to-none Life
and Career Planning program that identifies students’ natural aptitudes; an extensive library of college and university
catalogues from a wide-range of schools with vastly different campuses, philosophies, and fields of study; solid relationships
with the admissions departments of these institutions where many former students have already been accepted; and a wealth
of resources to help both students and parents identify the best way to finance a college education. These are elements
that add up to a strong college planning program which will lead the student to the best fit for his or her individual needs.
Our graduates attend colleges and universities from New York to California and from the deep South to New England. This
year’s graduating class received acceptances from the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, the University of Virginia, Stanford,
Vanderbilt, Duke, and Pepperdine to name a few, and was awarded more than five and one half million dollars in scholarships
and grants.
Finding the right fit for each student is my passion, and helping to discover that campus is a thrill. Whitefield Academy
considers each student a treasure of His creation and is honored to be entrusted with the task of helping each one discover
his or her next academic home.
