Faculty Profile
Melinda Lee
Fourth Grade Teacher
Melinda Lee
currently serves as one of Whitefield’s fourth-grade teachers. She began at Whitefield in 2002 as one of the founding faculty of the Lower School. Prior to serving at Whitefield, Melinda taught third grade in Birmingham, Alabama. She has also worked with the YMCA organization as the director of child care in the Shoals area (north Alabama). In addition, Lee served on a variety of Christian camp staffs in New Mexico, North Carolina, and Alabama. She has an undergraduate degree in elementary education from the University of North Alabama and a master's degree in elementary education from the University of Montevallo in Alabama.
On a professional note
Why I love my job:
I love my job because the students I teach keep ME “young at heart!” They constantly remind me of the importance of a child-like faith. My students challenge me to learn more (fourth graders can ask some GREAT questions!). Being a teacher means you NEVER know what might happen in your classroom. There’s never a dull moment when you combine a group of very diverse children in a room! Another bonus, I get to work with some AMAZING folks at Whitefield.
On a personal note
Hometown:
Decatur, Alabama (home of the first wave pool in the United States)
