A Christ-Centered Preparatory School

“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!”
-- Psalm 100:1-2 (ESV)

The arts program at Whitefield Academy creates a truly collaborative endeavor. Vocal artists are featured in musical theatre, lead worship during chapel, and perform in choral concerts and vocal ensemble. With a focus on both the technical aspects of vocal performance as well as the enjoyment of song, the choral program trains young musicians in a variety of styles.

While all students in the Lower School receive superior music education including vocal instruction, those in second- through fourth-grades have the opportunity to participate in after-school chorale. One may hear these students performing the Star Spangled Banner before a home football game, see them on stage at Grandparent’s Day, or enjoy their music at various events. Students choosing their music elective in chorus during fifth and sixth grades sing in the Middle School chorus. The chorus may be heard performing for Veteran’s Chapel, singing movie theme songs at a special choral event, or entertaining at a Christmas concert. Seventh and eighth grade students participating with the chorus also have the opportunity to perform in the Middle School musical. Upper School vocal artists perform in musical theatre and vocal ensemble. Whitefield students have participated in both Honor Chorus and All-State Chorus:

GMEA 6th grade Statewide Honor Chorus – outstanding 6th grade chorus students are selected by the director to attend the statewide chorus event. Upon selection, they rehearse and perform with outstanding 6th grade choral singers in the state of Georgia under the direction of a nationally acclaimed guest clinician.

GMEA Middle School All-State Chorus – outstanding seventh- and eighth-grade students must pass two auditions to be selected as a member of the all-state chorus. After passing the auditions, students are assigned to the all-state chorus (middle school mixed or treble) where they rehearse and perform with the most outstanding seventh- and eighth-grade choral singers in the state of Georgia under the direction of a nationally acclaimed guest clinician.
