- The girls played well against a strong Campbell team, only losing 1 match! The 2 doubles team of Caroline Schmitt and Kayleigh Golden had a match that came down to a match tiebreaker, which they won, but everyone else either won or lost in 2 sets. Our girls were consistent and played hard across the board.

-All 3 of our singles matches came down to match tiebreakers, so they were all extremely tight matches. Brandon Carman at 1 Singles and Jonathan Kern at 2 singles just barely lost, while Bryan Holsinger pulled out the win at 3 Singles. Our smoothest win was at 2 doubles, where Trey Kantor and Alex Healy won 6-2, 6-1. This was their first time playing in a Varsity match together, and they dominated out on the court.

3/29/2021 Mon 4 PM Varsity Tennis vs. Mount Paran School HOME Boys: W 3-2; Girls W 5-0

Paran team today. 2 singles player Jonathan Kern (9th) and 3 singles player Bryan Holsinger (12th) both won their matches in 2nd set tiebreakers! 1 singles player Brandon Carman (10th) made a comeback in his 2nd set as well, and even though it wasn’t enough to win it, he fought hard and looked even stronger in the 2nd set than he did in the 1st. Mt. Paran also brought some extra players, so Ronny Berry (11th) and Carter Fay (9th) got to play in an exhibition match, which they won 6-1, 6-0.

-The girls won big against Mt. Paran today. While all 3 singles players won pretty quickly, (only losing 1 game between all 3 of them), both doubles teams had to battle a little longer, but in the end, they both got the wins. 1 doubles team Peyton Holsinger (9) and Isabel Comstock (9) won their match in a 10 pt match tiebreaker 6-0, 3-6, (10-2). 2 doubles team Kayleigh Golden (12) and Kennedy Papantonis (12) won their first set 6-2, and while the second set was a little closer, they closed it out 7-5.

APRIL 4/1/2021 Thu 4:30 PM Varsity Tennis vs. Walker HOME Boys W 4-1; Girls L 0-5

The boys got a big win against a traditionally strong Walker team. Jonathan Kern (9) won easily at 2 singles, rolling past his opponent 6-1, 6-1. Alex Healy (10) and Trey Kantor (9) played extremely well together at 2 doubles, setting up points for each other to put away to win quickly as well. Brandon Carman (10) faced a tough opponent at 1 singles, but he fought hard the entire match, ending up with some really great shots and points to be proud of despite the loss.

The girls fought hard against a really tough Walker team. Corrie Lemasters (12) got down early in her first set at 1 singles, but after some adjustments, she made a strong comeback in the second. Addie Ellis (10) was back and forth with her opponent all match at 3 singles, and even though she didn’t get the win, it was still a great match to watch. She was the last one off of the courts at the end of the afternoon because they were so tight the whole time. Walker brought two extra girls, so Gracen Chally (11) and Ella Handler (10) got to play in an exhibition match, which they won 6-1, 6-2.

4/7/2021 Wed 4 PM Varsity Tennis vs. Holy Innocents’ School HOME Boys: L 2-3; Girls L 0-5

The two wins for the boys came from our doubles teams. The 2 doubles team of Trey Kantor (9th) and Tyler Fay (12th) also found themselves in a first set tiebreaker which they won, then they ended up winning the second set easily 6-2, therefore securing the second win. All of our singles players played incredibly well today. They faced tough opponents and all rose to the challenge and fought hard.

Due to some last minute lineup changes, many of our girls played in new positions for the first time this season. Most notably, Isabelle Jordan (12th) played up at 1 Singles, Addie Ellis (10th) played at 2 Singles, and Caroline Schmitt (11th) got the chance to play 3 Singles. Caroline had a great match, and even though she ended up losing, it was very close and competitive, and  she battled hard the entire time. Our doubles teams had competitive matches as well, and the girls have a lot to be proud of despite the score.
