Leaving a Legacy for Whitefield

There is a quote by Nelson Henderson that states, “The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.”

This quote is what led us to select a tree as the logo for the upcoming Leaving a Legacy capital campaign. The purpose of this campaign is to build a permanent building for our outstanding Lower School, and, like our original founders, leave a legacy for future students to learn in a first-rate environment.

I have had the privilege of meeting many of the original founders of Whitefield Academy over the past 14 years. Each time I meet one of them, I am humbled by their generosity and dedication to create something unique in the Atlanta area – a Christ-centered school that excels in academics, athletics, arts, and service without sacrificing its core values. They had a vision to build something for the future – something for my family and yours – that would leave a legacy for generations to come. To hear more from our founders, please listen to their stories here.

The Next Chapter of Whitefield

We are working on a new phase for Whitefield, and I am thrilled to be a part of this next chapter of the school. It will take sacrifices from all of us to be able to leave our own legacy at Whitefield.

As I think on this, I am reminded of an article by C.S. Lewis I recently received which states, “If our charities do not at all pinch or hamper us, I should say that [our gifts] are too small.”

This quote reminds me of the need to sacrifice, like our founders, to support a school that instills in our children Christ’s teachings and values.

I want to be a part of this new chapter of Whitefield’s journey as we “plant new seeds” for the future in a meaningful way, enabling fruit that future Whitefield students and graduates will bear for our community, nation, and world. I hope you will come beside me and build a legacy for future generations of students and families – let’s be the “next round of founders” for Whitefield.
