Ecuador Mission Trip

The Ecuador Mission Team at Whitefield Academy exemplifies Whitefield’s dedication to community service and to placing others ahead of self. Since 2004, teams of Upper School students have traveled to Quito, Ecuador to serve at the Love and Hope Foundation, a Christian school for underprivileged students run by Community Ventures International. During their time in Quito, Whitefield students and their leaders build relationships with the children and teachers of Love & Hope, prepare for and teach classes at the school, worship and study the Bible with local missionaries, enjoy delicious food, and learn about the culture of Ecuador. To learn more about the adventures of the EMT, follow their blog.

Though EMT members raise the funds to cover their individual travel expenses, Whitefield students of all ages contribute to this trip throughout the year. Kindergarten classes donate money bags (change used to teach money management and stewardship) at the end of each year. Lower School Spanish classes write to pen pals at the Love and Hope Foundation in Quito. Upper School students sell Chick-Fil-A biscuits throughout the school year and drinks at the Back to School Picnic to raise money for the trip. The Ecuador Mission Team sponsors Hasta La Pasta, an annual fund raising dinner. Additionally, Whitefield Academy contributes paper recycling funds and donates funds received through the Publix Partner Program (cards available at each school office and the Campus Store).

Each year, EMT members see hearts touched and lives changed. Members of the EMT gain a new perspective of missions work and are able to provide tuition for some of the children at The Love and Hope Foundation. Whitefield faculty members work diligently each year to help the EMT achieve its goals, and Whitefield Academy is recorded as part of the history of Community Ventures International.
