MS Spelling Bee winner advances to Scripps National Spelling Bee

Seventh-grader Marin Eckerson will represent Whitefield Academy and the state of Georgia in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May. Marin, the first Whitefield student to participate in the National Bee, will join other spellers from all 50 states, several territories and other countries including the Bahamas, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Japan, and South Korea in National Harbor, Maryland for Bee Week – May 26-31. The competition will be televised on ESPN on Thursday, May 30. Marin advances to Nationals after winning the Whitefield Middle School Spelling Bee in January, placing 4th in the Regional Bee, and accepting the 2019 RSVBee program invitation. Way to go, Marin!
