The Upper School experienced a full day of art during Arts Day on April 11.

The morning kicked off with a high-energy performance by Calo Gitano Dance Academy, the largest flamenco dance academy in Georgia. Students learned the origin of Flamenco and a few moves of their own. Afterward, they heard from Chinua Hawk, an Atlanta based singer/songwriter familiar to many students for his performances at Buckhead Church and singing the National Anthem before Atlanta United soccer games. Accompanied by Joni and Jamie on the piano, he brought down the house!

During the afternoon, students rotated through different artistic sessions of their choosing, with offerings such as:
  • Chalk art with guest artist Katie Bush
  • Abstract expressionist painting with Mrs. Brown
  • Culinary arts with Mrs. Blunier
  • Figurine painting with Mr. McBride
  • Improv with Miss Perry
  • Miming with Mr. McDonald
  • Antique wooden sign-making with Coach Young
  • Photography with guest artist Katelyn Vines
  • Poetry with Mr. Peeples
  • Art of speaking with guest David Nour
  • Square dancing with Mr. McCune
Students also had the option to travel off-campus for a tour of Anne O Art Gallery, Landsell Gallery, or the Fox Theater.
