Varsity track and field compete in Metro Atlanta track meet

On Thursday, March 28 the varsity track and field team competed in the rain-delayed 5th Annual Metro Atlanta track meet, hosted by Pace Academy and Holy Innocents' Episcopal School. The a two-day event included 16 Atlanta area independent schools.

In this high level of competition, Whitefield had a record number of PR’s (personal records) which gave the whole team an opportunity to celebrate their growth over the season!  The Whitefield boys team had an outstanding 5th place finish with 56 points and the girls team had a very credible 9th place finish with 24 points.

Medals were given to the top three finishers in each event and were awarded to four members of the Whitefield team: Shelby Wingate in the 100m (2nd), Lewis Brogan in the High Jump (2nd), Howard Allen in the Triple Jump (3rd), and Devin Wade in the 1600m (1st) in a personal record time of 4:25.62!

Girls who scored points for Whitefield (by finishing the the top 8 of an event) were Shelby Wingate (100m and 200m), Sky Johnson (Long Jump), Carmen Wilson (Triple Jump), Madison Johnson (High Jump), the 4x400m Relay team (Sky Johnson, Sarah Virginia Ryan, Shelby Wingate, and Amanda King), and the 4x800m team (Sofia Rios, Sarah Figaretti, Madison Johnson, and Amanda King).

Boys who scored points for Whitefield were Bryce Davis (100m, 200m, and Long Jump), Jordan Johnson (400m), Devin Wade (1600m and 3200m), Louis Brogan (High Jump), Howard Allen (Triple Jump), Wyatt Bonner (Triple Jump), Kyle Holt (Shot Put), and the 4x100m Relay team (Howard Allen, Spencer Wingate, Kaleb Brooks, and Bryce Davis).
