2020-2021 Back-To-School Hub

We are excited to once again gather on campus as the Whitefield community, united in our mission to develop in each of our students a passion for learning, for others ahead of self, and for the living and active Jesus. Calendars and All School Events

  • The 2020-2021 calendar highlights include school holidays and breaks.
  • The campus calendar stays up-to-date with all Whitefield events, and you can filter by type of event.
  • Join us in-person or online for a ribbon cutting ceremony at Brostrand Hall on Monday, August 10 at 4:30 p.m. 
    • To join us online, please click the gold link above.
    • Please note that guests attending in-person will not be allowed to tour Brostrand Hall or play on playground due to COVID restrictions. We ask attendees to be aware of physical distancing and wear a mask when 6 feet space is not possible.
  • Back-to-school transition appointments will take place Monday, August 10-Friday, August 15. Sign up by grade level here.
  • The first day of school is Monday, August 17. Students in PreK through sixth-grade will attend class in-person, and students in seventh- through 12th-grade will attend class remotely. 
    • While we operate in Mode 3A, students in seventh- through 12th-grade will attend class remotely on Mondays and in-person Tuesdays through Fridays; therefore, all students in PreK through 12th-grade will return to campus on Tuesday, August 18.

Health and Wellness

  • All families should review their Magnus Health account to ensure that they have completed the required health forms for 2020-2021. Click here for more information shared on the health services section of the Parent Portal.

Uniforms and Campus Store

  • The Campus Store is the one-stop shop for all your Whitefield gear. With options for in-person shopping or online ordering, the Campus Store is ready to help you show your Pack pride from uniforms to spirit wear to accessories and snacks. The Campus Store is located in Mod100, which is between Brostrand Hall and Founders Hall.   • The Whitefield Parent Association's Used Uniform Sale has been postponed until after the start of school. The WPA will continue to monitor and follow the school's guidelines to determine a date that will ensure our families are safe.  If you have any questions, please email NaKeya Bazemore.

Campus and Transportation

Parent Community

  • All parents are expected to read the parent handbook and discuss its contents with their children. Handbooks will be made available in early August. 
  • Whitefield parents are integral to the mission of our school. Click here to learn more about opportunities for Whitefield parents to learn, grow, and serve together. Parent programs include Men's Fraternity, Mondays with Moms, PackBackers, Arts Alliance, the Whitefield Parent Association, various prayer groups, and more.
    • Please note that Men's Fraternity and Mondays with Moms will meet remotely while Whitefield operates in mode 3A. Email Allison Duncanson or Mike Shaheen for more information.

Stay Connected

The Whitefield family directory helps our community stay connected. The directory will be printed and made available shortly after the beginning of the school year.

  • In order to insure that your information is correct and up to date, please login to My BackPack where you can view and update your profile (click Settings > My Profile). Please make any updates by Sunday, August 9. If you do not know your My BackPack login, please email Fran Banta or Kim Krebs in the business office.

  • We would love to encourage Whitefield families to support your business! Please consider listing your business in the directory. Each business listing is $25. To be listed in the directory, please complete this form and follow payment instructions on the form.

To ease the transition for our students and to help them acclimate to new campus procedures, each family will have individual times to return to campus, practice safety protocols, set up their desk, engage with their teachers, and visit classrooms prior to the first day of school. By settling into their learning spaces and practicing temperature checks and mask-wearing, students can approach the first day of school with confidence. Families will sign up for these personalized, 30-minute transition appointments by grade level. The grade levels will come to school according to the following schedule:

  • Monday, August 10 - 4th grade
  • Tuesday, August 11 - 3rd, 5th, and 9th grades
  • Wednesday, August 12 - 2nd, 6th, and 10th grades
  • Thursday, August 13 - 1st, 7th, and 11th grades
  • Friday, August 14 - PreK, kindergarten, 8th, and 12th grades

Summer Reading and Academic Readiness

BINGO boards for Lower School summer reading and guidelines for academic readiness will help your child start the 2020-2021 school year with confidence. You will notice that all Lower School students should read a book written or illustrated by Henry Cole, our visiting author for this year's I Love To Read Week!

Supply Lists

  • PreK- All supplies for PreK students are furnished in the classroom, including a student Wolfie bag and resting mat. Email Bunny Webb, Lower School Administrative Assistant, with any questions.
  • Kindergarten- In addition to the supply list, if you are beginning your first year at Whitefield, your Wolfie bag will be waiting for you in your classroom. If you are a returning student, you may use your PreK Wolfie bag for kindergarten. Email Bunny Webb, Lower School Administrative Assistant, with any questions.

Cub Care

Cub Care, formerly known as Club Cub and After Care, exists to support our families who would like to pick up their children between the end of the school day (1 p.m. for PreK, 2 p.m. for kindergarten, 3 p.m. for 1st- through 4th-grade) and 6 p.m. Cub Care enrollment will open on July 20, 2020, and all interested students should enroll online. Information about fees and enrollment can be found on the Cub Care web page.

 

After-School Programs

There are many After-School Programs (ASPs) offered to Lower School students. ASPs vary from the performance arts, to the sciences, to athletic offerings, and they are led by school faculty and well-qualified instructors from the community. You do not have to enroll in Cub Care to take part in a program.

 

Plans are still being made to be able to provide complete or modified Fall 2020 ASPs to Lower School students. Like every year, programs will not begin until after Labor Day, so a more comprehensive plan adhering to health guidelines per program will be communicated after the school year begins in August. Be sure to check the After-School Programs web page for more information.

Continuing to read over the summer helps encourage a passion for learning and keep reading comprehension skills sharp. Middle School students should carefully read their assigned novels and bring these books with them on the first day of school.

Textbook Ordering

In fifth grade, Whitefield provides some of the necessary textbooks, and parents should purchase some textbooks. Beginning in sixth grade, Whitefield does not provide textbooks for students. Parents of sixth- through 12th-graders are responsible for obtaining textbooks for their children. Click here for textbook lists and more information about how to order textbooks.

 

The Whitefield Parent Association (WPA) is hosting a Book Inventory Sale on Saturday, August 1, 2020 from 9 a.m. to noon in front of Mod300. Inventory is limited, so plan to come early!

 

After-school

  • Middle School athletics practices and competitions take place after school. Contact our coaches with any sport-specific questions.
  • All Middle School students take an arts class during the day. Seventh- and eighth-graders may also participate in marching band, which practices after school on Friday. Email Stacy Quiros, band director, with any questions. Other after-school arts opportunities will be communicated throughout the year.
  • After-school study hall is available for all Middle School students not attending sports or fine arts practices or meeting with a teacher. Supervised study hall takes place in the Morris Hall Upper School lecture hall from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

  • Upper School students need to be equipped with general school supplies (pencils, pens, binders, notebooks, etc.). Any additional course-specific supplies will be communicated to your student by their teacher on the first day of school.
  • Seventh- through 12th-graders participate in the Bring Your Own Laptop program. Click here for more information about BYOL.
  • Upper School locker dimensions at 13.5" deep, 15" wide, and 35.5" tall. Due to a lip around the front of the locker, the door opening is 12.25" wide, so do not use any shelving unit wider than 12.25". No crates are allowed in the lockers.
