Lower School Library

The Whitefield Lower School Library is a wonderful resource for students, parents, and teachers. Browse through picture books, chapter books, and biographies in a cozy space conducive to both individual reading and group story time. Each Lower School class visits the library at least once a week for activities, story time, projects, and more.

Lower School students are invited to participate in Ms. Handley's 100 Books Challenge! This optional reading initiative encourages students to read through Ms. Handley’s list of 100 Books Everyone Should Read in Lower School. Many of the books are already introduced through the Lower School curriculum, while others are accessible to students through the Lower School library (marked with a “100” sticker). Students in 3rd and 4th grades can begin the challenge at any time and keep track of their progress in their folders (kept in the library). Students who successfully complete the challenge by 4th grade will receive a medal and a Barnes & Noble gift card at the end of the school year.

In addition to the year-round activities in the Lower School library, students also enjoy participating in I Love To Read Week and the Lower School Book Fair.
