From Campout Chair Jim Wilkins:

The 13th Annual Whitefield Dad/Child Campout at Camp Highland held in September was a huge success. We had over 150 attendees, with many new families joining us this year. It was great to get to know them and their children and returning Whitefield families.

The theme was centered around dads being purposeful with their children and enjoying the outdoors that our Creator gave to us.

Camp Highland provided that setting, and we were blessed to have a beautiful weekend. The kids enjoyed many activities suited for second-, third-, and fourth-graders. Those who wanted to take a swim in the lake were able to do just that.

We had a great BBQ dinner and a group activity that included dads competing against the kids. We enjoyed a beautiful fireworks display provided by Craig Miller and his dad. The eveing was topped off with smores. What more could you ask for!

The next day we all enjoyed a devotional led by Danny Young and some great Christian music from Zack and the Camp Highland staff.

We couldn’t do this without the many volunteers from the Upper School, Tom Wood, grade captains John Durden and Bill McCarrick, and Danny McKinney from Camp Highland and his staff. Last but not least, thank you to Craig Miller and his dad for providing the pyrotechnics!
