The WolfPack had a strong start to November last week, participating in five athletic events. On Wednesday and Thursday our Middle School tennis teams earned three victories against Mount Vernon and Pinecrest, and Middle School athletes continued to compete on Saturday in their first swim meet of the season! Check out the recaps below for more information on these events.

On Friday we started the day by boarding a packed-out fan bus and heading to cheer for the varsity cross-country boys team and two of our female runners as they competed at the state meet in Carrollton, Georgia. Our team gave us a lot to cheer for, as the boys team finished third and Devin Wade claimed second place overall. The girls’ race followed, with Emily Little finishing tenth. These placements earned Devin and Emily each a spot on the podium! Congratulations to our runners on a great season. We’ve so enjoyed watching you push one another to work hard and earn better and better times throughout the season, and cheering for you as you earned an area championship and traveled to state! Great job, Pack!

The excitement continued on Friday night as the varsity football team competed against Darlington. The WolfPack has had a great season thus far, having won a handful of exciting victories to earn them the 16th spot in the power rankings before the showdown against the 9th ranked Tigers on Friday night. The WolfPack came out ready for what turned out to be a defensive battle and came away with a 6 - 0 victory, securing both a spot in the playoffs and the right to host the playoff game at home for the first time in over 8 years! Congratulations to each of the athletes and coaches. You've worked incredibly hard to establish a 7 - 3 season record, and we've loved cheering you on through the process. As Coach Hunter said on Friday night, “We are not finished yet!” Read full coverage from the Marietta Daily Journal here and be ready to come out and make WolfPack stadium the loudest it has ever been this Friday night. Stay tuned to the Morning Announcements and our social media channels for more information on how the varsity football team’s season will continue as the playoff bracket is finalized.

Friday night’s game was also senior night for the Pack. We honored the seniors from each of our fall athletic teams, including football, cross-country, cheerleading, SWAT, and volleyball. Seniors, I want to thank you for your years of dedication to Whitefield athletics. We have loved watching you grow into the athletes and leaders you are today. Your coaches and I are proud of each of you, and we look forward to continuing to cheer you on in all your future endeavors. In all you do, continue to work hard, play hard, and honor Christ. Congratulations!

In the week ahead, we’ll begin cheering for more of our winter athletic teams, as basketball teams begin to compete and swim and Middle School tennis teams participate in four events. Click here for the full athletic calendar for this week.

Go WolfPack!
