Upper School

A Christian High School With Purpose

Grades 9-12

You’ve poured into your child’s character and faith since they were small, and now you’re looking for a high school that will reinforce those values without sacrificing academic excellence. You want a school where students will be challenged in meaningful ways and surrounded by peers who are also growing into their purpose.

At Whitefield Academy, our Upper School offers an exceptional combination of college-prep academics, Christ-centered discipleship, and comprehensive college and career planning to guide students through their high school years. Here, students engage in an immersive curriculum that stretches the mind, deepens the heart, and puts faith into action while serving others above self. We call this Faith Learning Integration.

Grade 9

While college feels like a long way off, counseling for classes that will best prepare them for college goals begins in their first year. Freshmen begin with guided exploration of personal strengths, and students are encouraged to connect with teachers, classmates, and upperclassmen mentors who help support a strong start academically in the learning community.

Grade 10

Sophomores take the PSAT and PreACT and continue to work through the planning program. Faculty and counselors help students identify passions and interests. Course selection becomes more intentional, and students may start to explore new leadership opportunities.

Grade 11

Juniors meet one-on-one with a member of our college counseling team to create a customized list of schools that align with their academic goals and spiritual values. They receive support and guidance in preparing their college applications and standardized testing. Juniors have the opportunity to participate in internships and deepen their involvement in the Student Leadership Institute.

Grade 12

Seniors refine their college essays, complete applications, and finalize scholarship and financial aid paperwork with support from their college counselor. In this final year in the Upper School, we focus on the necessary college application requirements while also leaning heavily into their spiritual development as they look toward college and beyond. We aim to launch our students equipped and empowered into their next exciting adventure, wherever the Lord might take them.

The Impact of a Whitefield Education

What Sets Our Upper School Apart

At Whitefield Academy, students are invited to engage deeply, think critically, and grow spiritually. As a school, we seek to pursue academic excellence to the glory of God. When our faith is integrated into what we teach and how we teach, we achieve greater depth as students better understand the ‘why’ behind what they are learning.

Teachers are mentors. Peers are encouragers. And every experience is crafted to strengthen students as scholars, leaders, and followers of Christ. In addition to our 20 Advanced Placement and 18 honors courses, you’ll find:

Strong Focus on a College Preparatory Curriculum

Our course offerings prepare your student to thrive at the next level. Through strong AP results and SAT/ACT scores, we are cultivating strong learners prepared to thrive in a variety of academic contexts.

Immersive, Interdisciplinary Learning

We understand that specific lessons are only learned outside the classroom, where core concepts are brought to life through service projects, travel experiences, and collaboration across subject areas. Students dive deep during J-Term, a dedicated two-week period for creative, hands-on learning that stretches beyond traditional classroom boundaries.

Daily Discipleship and Spiritual Mentorship

Our Whitefield faculty model a living faith and challenge students to own their beliefs. Throughout the Upper School, students cultivate a living faith through classroom experiences, chapels, and weekly small groups. Students are encouraged to ask profound questions and seek biblical truth in a safe and supportive environment.

Student Leadership Institute

With nearly a dozen leadership course offerings, students grow in character and influence through practical leadership roles, service projects, and training events. Upperclassmen have the opportunity to lead their peers, mentor younger students, and serve the student body in meaningful ways across campus life and in the broader community.

Fine Arts and Athletics That Inspire Excellence

Whitefield believes in providing all students with opportunities to explore and refine their God-given gifts on stage or on the field. From state-ranked teams to award-winning visual and performing arts, students gain confidence through top-notch teaching and coaching.

A Close-Knit Community

Our faculty and staff are intentionally structured, with deans, academic support, and small groups ensuring students don’t slip through the cracks. A team of faculty advisors, counselors, and learning specialists tracks each student’s growth, well-being, and readiness for their next steps.

Jen Woods, M.Ed.

Upper School Principal

Whitefield’s Christ-centered, college prep mission propels us to cultivate a transformational educational experience that helps students understand the Lord, themselves, and the world around them. Our passionate faculty and staff seek to know the individual image bearers in their care and call students up to work with excellence and grow as learners, thinkers, and communicators. As a result, students engage in academic, service, artistic, athletic, worship, and leadership opportunities, equipping them to make an impact for the kingdom in college and beyond.

CONNECT WITH JEN

As an upper school parent at Whitefield, I can firmly see that our faculty and staff know, love, and care for our students. It is not just academics being taught, but Biblical foundations that will allow our children to flourish through school and life. Our teachers go alongside students to help guide and foster growth and faith, whether in advisory, the classroom, on the stage, or on the field/court. I am blessed to volunteer at Whitefield and get to know teachers, staff, and other parents in our community as well. Our family is grateful to be a part of the Whitefield community and hopes to see you around campus!
