Visual Arts at Whitefield

We are an Imago Dei Community

At Whitefield Academy, the visual arts inspire students to create sincere and significant work while recognizing the beauty of self-expression through visual arts. Believing that all students have natural artistic ability waiting to be developed, instructors encourage our young artists in every grade to discover and cultivate their God-given creativity.

Visual Arts Across Campus

At Whitefield Academy, creativity isn’t extracurricular, it’s essential. It is both a reflection of our faith and an expression of our God-given identity. Creativity reflects the Creator. It’s not just about art, it’s about identity. The heartbeat of The Fine Arts Department is the understanding that when students paint, dance, design, or perform, they’re not just doing an activity. They’re participating in something sacred.

Lower School

Beginning in the Lower School, students receive weekly instruction in visual art, focusing on both experiential learning and exposure to art history, renowned artists and their work, and the elements of art.

Middle and Upper School

Students continue with visual art in Middle School during fifth and sixth grades, exploring what they enjoy, and then move on to arts electives of their choice.

With extensive offerings in Photography, Graphic Design, Yearbook, Drawing and Painting, and Sculpture and Ceramics at the Upper School level, students may pursue areas of interest and continue on to AP Studio Art and Senior Art Portfolio.
