From a Prayer to a Place
Nearly three decades ago, a small group set out to create a Christ-centered school in Atlanta, one committed to academic rigor, a Biblical worldview, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. The dynamic union of
Mt. Vernon Christian Academy and a prayer group of parents in the Buckhead area coalesced under the leadership of Headmaster Chuck Johnston and Board Chair David Jones. Faithful families and community leaders recognized the need for solidarity in creating a larger, more comprehensive college preparatory school dedicated to academic and Christ-centered excellence within an ever-changing society.With fewer than 100 students, Whitefield Academy opened its doors, bathed in prayer and trust in God’s sovereignty.
Today, Whitefield serves more than 950 students from PreK–12 on a 100-acre campus. While we’ve grown, our mission remains the same: to immerse students in God’s Word, challenge them academically and spiritually, and prepare them for life with a firm foundation in Christ.
