Shakespeare, contemporary productions, and musical theater are alive and well at Whitefield Academy. Theater is incorporated into the academic curriculum. Lower school students participate in class plays and perform in at least one all-school production. In middle and high school, theater classes are available on an elective-basis.
In addition to those performing on stage, students from the Live Production class design and rig lights and sound while others contribute to costuming, make-up, and choreography. Performers and tech crew participate in the Georgia Thespian Conference, bringing home numerous awards. The theater arts program allows students to experience both the artistic and the technical side of dramatic production while it offers the Whitefield community the chance to experience a night at the theater.
A 19 year old boy has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. It looks like an open-and-shut case- until one of the jurors begins opening the others' eyes to the facts. 12 Angry Jurors is a play that contemplates the huge responsibility of 12 ordinary people as they consider the guilt or innocence of a young man accused of murder. The 12 jurors bring their own histories, prejudices, and biases to the jury room as they work through this life or death decision.
