Meet our Leadership

Kevin Bracher, Ph.D.
Head of School
Kevin Bracher is the head of school at Whitefield Academy. He began at Whitefield in 2007 as principal of the Middle School and continued to assume roles of increasing responsibility. Prior to his appointment as head of school in 2013, he was serving as the school’s academic dean focusing on curriculum, faculty development, testing, technology, and accreditation. With over 25 years of experience as an educator, Bracher has demonstrated consistent dedication to excellence, integrity, and Christ-centered leadership in both public and private schools. His career began as a high school math teacher (ranging from algebra through AP calculus) and coach of three sports, followed by leadership posts in all three K-12 levels - high school, middle school, and elementary school. Bracher has an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and three graduate degrees from Georgia State University, including a Ph.D. in educational leadership.
Wendy Barnhart
Interim Director of Business Affairs
Wendy Barnhart currently serves as interim director of business affairs at Whitefield. Before joining the WolfPack, Wendy gained 25 years of experience in financial management for independent schools in the Atlanta area, most recently serving as interim CFO for a small private university. Wendy is a Certified Public Accountant, USGBC LEED Accredited Professional, and has earned a B.A. in accounting from Georgia State University.
Maryellen Berry
Lower School Principal
Maryellen Berry serves as Lower School principal at Whitefield Academy. Before joining the Whitefield leadership team in 2018, Berry gained 18 years of experience as a Lower School teacher and an additional 15 years of experience as a curriculum and outplacement director and division head at Trinity School in Atlanta. Berry holds a B.A. in elementary education from Stetson University and a M.S. in elementary education with a concentration in curriculum and instruction from the State University of New York at Cortland, MS.
Allison Duncanson
Director of Spiritual Life
Allison Duncanson joined the Whitefield staff in 2015 as the gifts management officer for the development team before moving to serve in the administration office alongside Head of School Kevin Bracher. Currently, Duncanson serves as Whitefield's director of spiritual life. Duncanson graduated from Vanderbilt University and spent most of her career in corporate banking cash management. She has also served on the board of her community’s charter school.
Ron Farrar
Middle School Principal
Ron Farrar is the Middle School principal at Whitefield. He earned his bachelor's degree studying middle school education and history from Fitchburg State University and received his Master of Education from Cambridge College. Farrar has a Biblical studies degree from Master’s College in Santa Clarita, California. He also earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Educational Leadership, both from Cambridge College.
Brian Kennerly
Assistant Head for External Affairs
Brian Kennerly joined the Whitefield team in 2018 as assistant head of external affairs. Before arriving at Whitefield, Kennerly served as head of school at Brookstone School in Columbus, Georgia, and a grade chairman at the Westminster Schools in Atlanta. Most recently he served as the executive director for the Council on Educational Standards and Accountability. Kennerly has earned a B.A. in political science from Vanderbilt University, an M.A. in education administration from Columbia University, and a Doctor of Education in organizational leadership and policy from Vanderbilt University.
Lauren Race
Director of Development
Lauren Race joined the Whitefield team in 2018 as director of development. Race brings over ten years of fundraising experience to the position which were focused on developing and stewarding relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporate partners. She has managed annual campaign efforts and executed major comprehensive campaigns for organizations including the Kansas State University Foundation, United Way of Greater Atlanta, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. She holds a B.A. from Kansas State University.
Danny Ryan
Athletic Director
Danny Ryan is Whitefield Academy's athletic director, overseeing all athletic teams as well as the school's sports medicine and athletic training programs. He has been at Whitefield since 2008 and previously served as assistant athletic director and head athletic trainer. In those roles, Ryan provided athletes with instruction on the care and treatment of the body through proper nutrition, exercise, and rest. Ryan regularly addressed the needs of athletes with sprains or other injuries and applied appropriate medical treatment in conjunction with team physicians. Ryan also developed the Student WolfPack Athletic Training (SWAT) program for students interested in learning the basics of athletic training and assisting at sporting events. Before coming to Whitefield he had a seasonal internship with the Tampa Bay Rays and was a graduate assistant at Georgia Tech. He has an undergraduate degree in athletic training and sports medicine from the University of South Florida. Ryan is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and is licensed and certified in the state of Georgia.
Mike Shaheen
Director of Student Leadership
Mike Shaheen joined the WolfPack as director of student leadership in 2018. Before arriving at Whitefield, Shaheen gained 14 years of experience at as teacher in both Massachusetts and Georgia, more than 5 years of experiences as a missionary for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in the Dominican Republic, and experience as a baseball (9 years) and assistant football (14 years) coach. Shaheen holds a B.A. in history from Stonehill College as well as a M.Ed. from Cambridge College.
Nathan Stevens
Assistant Head of Academic Affairs, Upper School Principal
Nathan Stevens is the assistant head of academic affairs and Upper School principal at Whitefield. In these roles, he leads Whitefield's Instructional Leadership Team (ILT), a team of faculty members who oversee curriculum development and instructional practices. The ILT works together to align curriculum with the mission of the school while emphasizing biblical integration. Prior to joining the Whitefield faculty, Stevens worked in education for sixteen years and administration for nine years, working as an academic dean and a principal at both the middle school and high school level. Stevens has a B.S. in History Education from Maranatha Baptist University and an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina.
