Summer Programs

 

Camp Whitefield is a Christ-centered summer day camp for rising PreK through rising eighth-grade students.

Campers spend their days playing games, enjoying arts and crafts, and enjoying weekly field trips all based around weekly themes. They compete and practice their skills in age-appropriate physical challenges, gain educational knowledge, and explore God’s creation in a fun and caring environment. Registration for Camp Whitefield 2020 IS NOW OPEN! Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register for camps?
Register online beginning in January. Please go to this site to register for Summer Programs at Whitefield Academy. https://whitefieldacademy.campbrainregistration.com. Once you create an account, all your information will be saved and all information will be saved even if you must log out before completion of an application.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discovery, American Express.

Will I receive a receipt or confirmation?
For summer camps, you will receive an email confirmation. A reminder email with details and logistics will be sent the Wednesday before the start of the camp.

Receipts can be printed from the registration site. Under FORMS, click on Download Printable Registration Confirmation to receive a PDF receipt for each camper.

Are the programs open to non-Whitefield students?
YES! We desire to serve and bless our community, so all camps are open to everyone except for a few camps. Those few camps for only Whitefield students are specified in the camp description.

Can I sign up for a specialty camp and have my child attend Camp Whitefield for lunch and the rest of the day?
Absolutely! Your child can attend a specialty camp for half the day, then Camp Whitefield for the rest. We will make sure your child eats lunch, snack, and gets from camp to camp. They will even get a Camp Whitefield t-shirt and have the option to attend the weekly field trip! This year, when you add Camp Whitefield to your cart, it will ask if you want to add a specialty camp for $100.

How can I get a discount?
EARLY BIRD discount of 10% off all camps will be applied to your total prior to March 1st.

REFERRALS--For every non-Whitefield student you refer, there will be a $50 discount for your camp sign-up. Contact Angie Boone before you checkout so she can give you the discount code.

What is the refund and cancellation policy?
Whitefield Academy reserves the right to cancel any portion of a summer program in case of unforeseen circumstances. Refunds will be issued.

Whitefield Academy reserves the right to dismiss a student from a camp if the behavior is not in line with the Whitefield standard of expectations. Refunds will be issued on a prorated basis.

Any cancellation, prior to two weeks of the start of a camp date, will result in a tuition refund, minus a $50 non-refundable processing fee.

If a camper withdraws within 14 days of the camp start date, a refund will be made, minus a $100 non-refundable fee.

In case of withdrawal due to death in the family or illness, a full refund will be given. For an illness, written notice from a physician may be required before the refund is issued. Please contact Angie Boone at 678-770-3236 and a refund can be arranged.

How do I get receipts for childcare tax deductions?
Receipts can be printed from the registration site. Under FORMS, click on Download Printable Registration Confirmation to receive a PDF receipt for each camper. The school tax number is on the top of that document along with the dates you attended camps.

 

Wee Whitefield is an abbreviated version of Camp Whitefield for rising PreK children. 

From 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., these young campers will enjoy all the activities and crafts on their level with some great counselors right by their side. The cost includes lunch, field trip or special, in-house speaker, t-shirt, craft supplies, and Wacky Wednesday activities. Wee Whitefield campers must be four years of age by May 1st and there is a limit of 15 campers per week. Parents will pick up in the Lower School Student Activity Center (LSSAC) after lunch and some free time. Before Care is open to Wee Whitefield campers for an additional fee. 

 

Wee Whitefield Camp Director: 

 

Lower School Camp Whitefield is a Christ-centered day camp for rising kindergartners through rising fourth-graders.

During the day, the campers will spend time in praise and worship, playing games, making arts and crafts, competing in age-appropriate, physically challenging events, advancing educational knowledge, forming new friendships, and exploring God’s creation in a fun, loving, and caring environment. There will be two different groups within LS Camp Whitefield to ensure that age-appropriate games and activities will keep younger and older elementary children engaged all day long! Wacky Wednesday not only includes water games and water slides, but also other games that guarantee to be messy fun, so be sure to wear old clothes every Wednesday.  Cost includes lunch, field trip, t-shirt, craft supplies, and Wacky Wednesday activities. 

Lower School Camp Whitefield Director: 

 

Middle School Camp Whitefield is a Christ-centered day camp for rising fifth- through eighth-graders. 

Every day will be a new adventure for the middle school campers. The day begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. We will have a games/arts & crafts day, field trips, water day, skill day, and service day. The goal of this camp is to challenge the middle school campers to learn new skills, make new friends, see new places, and develop their God-given gifts… all while having tons of FUN!  Cost includes lunch, snacks, field trips, t-shirt, supplies, and Wacky Wednesday activities.

"Add A Camp" is easier than ever!

Your child can attend a specialty camp for half the day, then Camp Whitefield for the rest. We will make sure your child eats lunch, snack, and gets from camp to camp. They will even get a Camp Whitefield t-shirt and have the option to attend the weekly field trip!  This year, when you add Camp Whitefield to your cart, it will ask if you want to add a specialty camp for $100.

 

Before and After Care.

For an additional fee, we offer Before Care at 7:30 a.m. until the start of camp at 8 a.m. and After Care for all-day camps or afternoon camps from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Before Care costs $5/day or $20/week, and After Care costs $20/day or $60/week.

Be a Grammar Guru

Grammar… ugh. I don’t like grammar, or at least I didn’t until I took this amazing summer class! Students will be introduced to a new, fun way to learn grammar through songs, games, and oral recitation as a group. This class is designed to help students get a jump-start on learning the grammar curriculum taught in third-grade, as well as give a great foundation of review for students who would like more practice learning   essential grammar concepts. This is a perfect course for students new to Whitefield entering 3rd, 4th or 5th grade.

Be a Writing Wizard

Students will explore the art of writing by developing foundational skills in building interesting sentences, fluid paragraphs, and coherent age-appropriate essays... all while having FUN! Foundational skills include writing mechanics, brainstorming, organization, sentence structure, word choices, supporting details, and overall development.

Time: 8-11 a.m.

Be a Writing Wizard & Grammar Guru

If someone is interested in both camps, then the price will be reduced to $350 and the student is welcome to pack a lunch and join Mrs. Boone from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. to eat in the classroom, be outside for recess time, and relax before the next class begins.

Camp Invention

Camp Invention is a high-energy, hands-on STEM camp. Your child will love what’s in store for this year: CREATE- Become a confident entrepreneur as you sketch, prototype, protect, and pitch the next great invention!  COLLABORATE- Team up to play hybrid hover ball games, trade inventor playing cards, and design the ultimate sports complex. PROBLEM SOLVE- Tackle environmental challenges while you compete in zipline races and build parachutes to airdrop animals! Chess Camp

Enjoy playing chess? Want to learn? Beginning or experienced campers will learn tactics, practice openings and endgame strategy, and enjoy playing with friends. Includes tournament-style play, Bughouse (team chess), and SmartBoard instruction.

College Essay Writing 1

During the College Essay Writing camp students will learn to develop and construct a well-written personal essay for their college applications. While the primary objective of the week is for each student to have written, edited, and finalized at least one essay, other goals include developing students’ writing skills and helping them become more reflective thinkers about the significance of their individual life stories. This highly participatory camp will cycle through periods of direct instruction, reading example essays, individual writing, and workshopping with the group as a whole. Rising Whitefield 12th-grade students only. Room U-207.

Drivers Education 1

The Georgia Department of Driver Services requires a state-approved 30-hour Drivers Education course for all 16 year olds in order for them to receive their driver’s license. This course may be taken before or after the student receives their learner’s permit. This course will not include actual on the road driver training. Please note this course is licensed through the State of Georgia Department of Driver Services.

Fifth Grade Boot Camp

The fourth-grade teachers will do a quick review of some key concepts we’ve learned this past year. This will allow students to come back to school with a bit more CONFIDENCE and EASE! The three subjects we’ll cover will be math, grammar, and reading. Each day, campers will go through some RIGOROUS training, reminding them of skills they learned to multiply, divide, figure out fractions, and MORE! They will go back over pattern one, two, and three sentences to help “oil” those rusty grammar brains. They will be reminded of the areas of reading we’ve covered this year (plot, theme, character, setting, rising and falling action, climax, and the list goes on). But wait… there’s MORE! Former fifth-graders will come back and help show their successors some helpful things about what to expect, organization tips, and get the campers EXCITED about the upcoming year! THIS CAMP IS GOING TO ROCK!

Kinder Camp

There’s no mystery here! This camp is a one-week course that will involve a variety of fun and exciting learning activities for rising Whitefield Academy kindergarten students for fall of 2020. As a result of this camp, students will have a jump start to the Whitefield Kindergarten program. The class will cover phonics skills, reading and reading comprehension strategies, math skills, and the basics of Whitefield’s handwriting program. Get ready to learn some key skills all while having so much fun!

What's New in First Grade

Do you want to be the first to know all about "First Grade?" Join us for a FUN and exciting week as we explore all the things you need to know about "First Grade." The course will involve multi-sensory activities, phonics games, and exploring daily literature experiences. Camp is open to rising first-graders or completed first-graders that want a review before second-grade. Whitefield and non-Whitefield students are welcome. See you there! Be sure to pack a water bottle and snack each day.

Boardgame and Werewolf Camp

This week will be filled with a new style of board game- the Cooperative Game. New board games, like Werewolf (many from Europe), offer players a chance to play together- everyone wins or everyone loses. These aren't your parents' board games. No Monopoly. No Game of Life. And no Yahtzee. Spend some non-videogame time with your friends and enjoy laughing and plotting and saving the world together. The camp will conclude with a Parent and Sibling Game Day- invite your parents and siblings and teach them to play your favorite game from the week.

All Things Sweet- The Art of Baking

We’re cooking something up in the Whitefield kitchen! Come be a part of creating, decorating, and sharing all things SWEET. Boys and girls are welcome. Questions we will answer: what’s the science behind why yeast rises? How does lemon enhance flavor? What’s the difference between milk and dark chocolate? How do brown sugar and white sugar change the flavor of our favorite cookie recipes?

Cooking with Kids

Does your child love to help in the kitchen? This camp will be a fun way to learn new recipes while developing kitchen organization skills and clean-as-you go habits. Campers will prepare and cook a meal each day as well as create a recipe book to take home at the end of the week. All supplies will be included. What to bring: willingness to learn and try new recipes!  *Please list any food allergies for your child*

Creative Creatures

This is an art camp where students will use a variety of artistic media to create two- and three-dimensional animals and original creatures. Students will be have the opportunity to create hand-sewn plushies, polymer clay pom-pom creatures, and paintings using watercolor or acrylic paint. 
What to bring: smocks or wear clothing appropriate for painting- students may be using acrylic paint which does not wash out of clothes!

Dance Camp

Dance camp is an exciting way for your child to keep moving during the summer. This class will introduce your student to different areas of dance while developing body awareness, rhythm, flexibility, coordination, and confidence. We will have themed-based crafts, activities, snacks and a little performance on the last day of camp!

Geocaching Adventure Camp

This five-day camp includes outdoor exploration and navigation using GPS technology – leading students through scavenger hunts all over the Whitefield Academy campus. Students will be introduced to basic navigation skills and how the earth’s surface is translated onto maps and GPS devices. Using these tools with basic navigation skills, students will embark on a new adventure every day – discovering hidden ‘caches’, learning about geologic features, and even creating their own ‘cache’!

K-2 LEGO Camp

Bring your craziest ideas to life with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Build engineer-designed projects such as chugging Steamboats, enchanting Moon Bridges, and bustling Airports. Design and build as never before and explore your craziest ideas.

Minecraft Camp

This week, campers will join together as a team to survive on a dangerous island. Players will be challenged to start from scratch, with no food, no weapons, and no shelter... and to find their way all the way to THE END. The End? That's where the Ender Dragon awaits, but to get there, players will need to build a Nether Portal, visit the Nether, and find a Nether Fortress to gather the supplies needed to find a Stronghold and activate the doorway to THE END. Players LOVE Minecraft, but many of them have NEVER played the game all the way to THE END. Can your team work together to craft, mine, fight, and win the game?

Musical Theater Camp

Audition/Casting Day: Saturday, May 30th, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Must attend all day.
Performances: Friday, June 26th at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, June 27th at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 28th at 2:30 p.m.
Come and be a part of the amazing musical SHREK! Create, develop, rehearse, and perform a full-length musical. Perform for friends and family on the last weekend of camp. Begin your journey to becoming a triple threat. Students may be asked to help in providing costume pieces or props.  Students may bring a lunch or purchase lunch from Whitefield. Students with driver’s licenses may leave campus, but must abide by Georgia law as to whom may ride with them. Students not driving must have written parental permission to leave campus with another student. Cost of this camp is non-refundable.

Tinker Camp

A camp for those kids that want to be creative and make new and exciting things out of recycled materials and various other supplies, as well as use the 3D printer, video screen, and even robotics! If you can dream of making it, we will do it!  This a great camp for those students that are looking to add to previously made items at other camps.  The camp will be conducted in the Innovation Lab using all that the Innovation Lab has to offer. Bring a snack and water bottle.

Up, Up & Away

This is an art camp that will focus on all things that fly! Students will have a chance to use a variety of artistic media to create both two- and three-dimensional artworks related to anything with wings or capes (think hot air balloons, birds, rocket ships, and superheroes)!
What to bring: smocks or wear clothing appropriate for painting- students may be using acrylic paint which does not wash out of clothing!

Under the Sea

This is an art class related to all things under the sea! Students will create two- and three-dimensional artworks using paint, ink, pastels, polymer clay, paper mache and more to create artwork related to creatures and things that live below the surface!
What to bring: smocks or wear clothing appropriate for painting- students may be using acrylic paint which does not wash out of clothes!

All Things Watercolor

This is an art camp where students will be using a variety of watercolor media including paint, watercolor pencils, watercolor markers, and ink. Students will be working from still life and printed reference to create finished works of art. New techniques with watercolor will be explored including adding salt and rubbing alcohol to their pieces. 
What to bring: smocks or wear clothing appropriate for painting- students may be using acrylic paint which does not wash out of clothing!

Camp WolfPup (Monday, Wednesday, Friday ONLY)

Each day we will have a Bible story time, outdoor games, a special snack, and indoor playtime.  Each day will have a theme from one of Jesus’ parables. Please pack a water bottle (with a name), diapers and wipes (if needed), and a weather-appropriate change of clothes all placed in a bag with the child’s name clearly labeled on the outside.  If you would like your child to wear sunscreen or bug spray, please apply it before dropping them off.  We will provide a snack each day, but if your child has allergies, please provide a special allergy friendly snack in their bag.

Woodworking

This camp is for those students that have a high level of curiosity and want to learn to create things with wood. There will be several projects going on at the same time with wood and paint. For example, building bird houses, bug cages, go karts, rubber band guns, play camping tents, etc.  No prior knowledge of woodworking is needed for the students. All are welcome and invited. All tools will be provided and each student will receive the proper training for the operation of the tools. Materials are included in the rate.

Archery

Cupid, Apollo, Artemis, William Tell, Robin Hood, Legolas Greenleaf, Katniss Everdeen, Hawkeye - what do all these characters have in common? They are all expert archers! Join me this summer and begin to learn about this ancient yet timeless sport. We will learn about the different types of bows, parts of an arrow, how to determine your dominant eye, and safety procedures. Through practice, drills, and games, you will become familiar with this fun sport of the ages!

Baseball

Come out and have a blast at the Whitefield Academy baseball camp! Whether you are wanting to try the game out for the first time, looking to sharpen your skills, or just love playing baseball all summer, come out and be a part of a fun week of baseball excitement. This camp will be led by our varsity baseball head coach and his staff along with some of this year’s varsity baseball players. You won’t want to miss this great opportunity to learn baseball from the best at Whitefield and have fun doing it!

Lower School Basketball

Basketball camp for the beginner to intermediate basketball player.  We will have a lot of skill development and time to hone their skills in small scrimmages.  We will have a SOD (skill of the day) every day including ball handling, shooting, post play, and defensive positioning.  Every day will start with a devotion, and we will end the day with prayer.  Each child will receive a t-shirt for the camp.

WolfPack Boys and Girls Basketball

Coach Courtney Brooks, head boys basketball coach, and Coach Tim Unsicker, head girls basketball coach, will work together to conduct a co-ed basketball camp for boys and girls rising fourth- through eighth-grade. The WolfPack Fundamental Basketball Camp will focus on the five basic fundamentals for development: passing, shooting, dribbling, rebounding, and defense. Camp will also focus on fundamental conditioning training to help young basketball players become better athletes: speed training, speed ladder, mini hurdles, and jump rope.
What to bring: Water Bottle, a great attitude, and energy to have fun while working hard!

WolfPack Junior Cheer Camp

Is your daughter interested in learning cheer basics or refining her cheerleading skills? This camp will offer instruction on correct formation of motions, introduce new and exciting chants and cheers, and work on basic stunts. We will also instruct tumbling at an appropriate level based on individual strengths and abilities. The girls will also learn a dance throughout the week. Lastly, campers will learn how to celebrate and encourage school spirit AND one another through daily devotions and team-building activities.

The varsity football WolfPack coaching staff is excited to offer a junior football camp this summer. Both new and experienced players are encouraged to come out and have a blast while learning the game of football. Campers will not need pads as the camp will center around objectives, skills, technique, and fundamentals.

Soccer camp for the beginner to intermediate soccer player.  We will have a lot of skill development and time to hone their skills in small scrimmages.  We will have many different types of games played where the athletes will become familiar and learn to love the game of soccer.  We will have a SOD (skill of the day) every day including dribbling, passing, shooting, and defending.  Every day will start with a devotion, and we will end the day with prayer.

Middle School WolfPack Soccer

Begin or continue your preparation for becoming a part of the Whitefield soccer program. During this camp you will learn the Whitefield Way when it comes to the game of soccer by developing the skill, focus. and attitude that have been the tenets for the WolfPack’s success on the soccer field.  We will have a lot of skill development and time to hone skills in small scrimmages. Summer Sports Spectacular

Tired of drill after drill after drill? Want to just play the game? Summer Sports Spectacular is where you want to be! Each day will consist of 2 or 3 different sports. Teams will be divided by age groups, some basic rules and skills will be covered and then it's time to play. One day may be flag football, soccer, and handball. The next day may be basketball, dodge-ball, and floor hockey. Each day will be different from the last. Be coached, taught, and hang out with some of Whitefield's varsity players on each of the sports teams we play. Emphasis is on sportsmanship, fair play, and lots of fun.

Speed and Agility (Boys and Girls)

New this year....boys will be coached by MR. McClellan, while the girls will have their own coach, MRS. McClellan!  DON’T MISS THIS AMAZING OPPORTUNITY! WolfPack speed and agility camp is designed specifically to help your son or daughter improve in areas of foot speed, coordination, strength and quickness. WolfPack speed and agility is an up-tempo, high-energy, three-hour camp, full of non-stop action and fun with daily prizes! The camp will be split into two groups with both a younger and older division. Those in the younger division will work to develop basic movements and vital motor skills that will serve as an excellent platform and foundation for greater speed and agility as your child grows in the future. The older division will work on those skills as well, along with more advanced movement patterns. SWAT (Student WolfPack Athletic Training)

Does your child have an interest in athletic training or the field of sports medicine? Come take a closer look and learn many of the skills and techniques used to get athletes back on to the playing field as quickly as possible. Over the course of the camp, students will learn the many taping techniques used in the athletic training room, as well as basic first aid and CPR certification. We will also cover the many functions of the equipment used in athletic training, as well as what to do in emergency situations. Student will also learn extensively about the profession of athletic training, the many areas of employment in the field, as well as educational requirements to become a certified athletic trainer. Camp is for all levels of S.W.A.T. members and will have different education sessions for novice, as well as experienced students. Some field trips may also be scheduled! Wrestling

A great camp for boys to be boys. A week of wrestling! Beginners will learn the fundamentals of wrestling. Stances, rules, and beginner level moves. More advanced wrestlers will have the opportunity to learn high level moves and participate in lots of live wrestling. There will be portions of the week devoted to cardiovascular fitness as well as time for fun and games. We have been fortunate the last few years to have guest coaches who were NCAA All-Americans and even Olympic wrestlers. There is an extremely high level of instruction that wrestlers get regardless of skill level at our camp.
What to bring:  wrestling shoes if they have them. If not, they can wrestle in socks or bare feet.
