Lower School

Uniquely Whitefield

The Whitefield Lower School hosts special events which provide an opportunity for Whitefield families to celebrate the fun moments and milestones that come with being a Lower School student. Faculty and staff members, along with the Whitefield Parent Association, work to create environments and opportunities in which students are able to build memories and share their God-given talents with classmates and family members.

Academics

I Love to Read Week: Each day of I Love to Read week includes exciting activities, as authors and writers visit to inspire students in their love of reading. At the end of the week, each Lower School class dresses up and decorates a wagon to depict a favorite book; they take their wagon on a parade through the Middle School and Upper School quadrangle.

Academic Competitions: The Lower School participates in the ACSI writing competition, math Olympics, ACSI spelling bee, and other off-campus competitions

Athletics

Field Day: This day is athletic and fun! Good food, good friends, and good competition round out the next-to-the-last day of school!

Arts

Christmas Program: Each Lower School class participates in Whitefield’s annual Christmas program, learning songs and passages of Scripture that focus on the birth of Jesus Christ.

Fine Arts Day: From engaging performances to hands-on art activities, this day brings out the creative side of every student.

Spring Musical./Play: Selected students in grades first through fourth sing and perform in this annual musical or drama production.

Spring Recital: Our after-school ballet group, violin group, and Lower School chorale perform at this event.

Variety Show: Students audition to enter and then perform in this annual show held to spotlight a myriad of talents.

Events with Parent and Grandparents

Campout with Dad: This annual fall event at Camp Highlands is a favorite of our dads and students.

Sweetheart Dance: Dads escort their daughters to this “red carpet” Valentine’s occasion and enjoy sweet treats and dancing.

Donuts with Dad: Dads and their children enjoy one another at an on-campus breakfast of donuts and other treats. Walking the track together or mingling with friends makes this a special time for kids to spend with their dads.

Mom-Son Maker’s Night: Boys work with their moms to create unique structures while munching on pizza.

Muffins with Mom: Eating a muffin with your mom before school starts is the BEST!

Grandparents and Grand Friend’s Day: During this celebration, students put on a program and share a peek into life as a Lower School student with some very special people.
