Welcome to a new tradition at Whitefield – the Whitefield Great Day of Service! This event is centered on coming together as a Pack and starting off the school year with a focus on “others ahead of self.” A passion for service runs deep within our school community, and what better way to channel that passion than through a GREAT day of service!

Whitefield families, students, athletic teams, siblings, advisees, faculty, staff, classes, etc. are encouraged to sign up to serve at one of our many service projects around the Atlanta community. During this day, you’ll not only bond as a group, but be the hands and feet of Jesus to people and organizations that desperately need assistance.

There are a variety of projects available for ALL ages and abilities, so register today! Participants will receive a free T-shirt the morning of the event, and student participants will even be allowed to wear their Great Day of Service T-shirt to school on Monday, August 28!

Friday, August 25, 2017 - Kickoff Rally at All-School Chapel (in the Athletic Center - 9 a.m.)

All members of the Whitefield community are invited to join us as we kick off of our new school year with a focus on service and celebrate the mighty work that God can and will do as we put our faith into action.

Saturday, August 26, 2017 – Whitefield Great Day of Service
  • Worship and Breakfast (8 a.m. at Grand Amphitheater) - All participants will gather on campus for a time of worship and prayer before dispersing to their project locations. You will also pick up your T-shirt at this time. Breakfast will be provided.
  • Teams Disperse (8:45 a.m.) - Following worship and prayer, it’s time to serve! Teams will depart for their project locations and enjoy a GREAT day of service together!

Why is Whitefield starting a Great Day of Service?
We want to create a way for the entire Whitefield community to come together as a family and focus on “others ahead of self” as we start a new school year. There’s no better way to center our hearts and minds on Christ than to serve others! Our goal is to make this an annual tradition at the beginning of each school year.
When can I sign up?
Now! As certain projects begin to fill up, more will be added, so anyone who wants to participate will have an opportunity to sign up to join a project.
How do I register?

Is this just for students, or can the whole family participate?
We invite anyone who is a part of the Whitefield community to participate! This includes students, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, alumni, faculty, staff, and the list could go on!
Can I sign up as part of a team or large group?
Definitely! We have projects available for groups of all sizes, and if space is running out, we’ll gladly find a project to fit your size and needs. If you have a large group and would like help registering for a project, please email
Will there be Whitefield sports practices or events that may conflict on that day?
Whitefield has allotted that day just for Great Day of Service. No other events or practices will be scheduled.
Do you have to be a certain age to participate?
We will have projects available for all ages and abilities, beginning at PreK4 and up. Age appropriateness will be indicated for each project.
Does my family have to serve together or can we serve on different projects?
You may serve in any group arrangement you like! Some examples are: sports teams, moms, advisees, etc. You may also sign up to serve individually, it's really up to you!
Do students get community service hours for participating? How is that reported?
Yes! Upper School students will report their hours via and can enter the email address of their project captain for verification of the hours. Middle School students will fill out and return their paper verification form.
Once I sign up, when will I hear from my project captain?
You will hear from your project captain with more details over the summer.
Where do we gather that morning?
We will gather at WolfPack Stadium for a time of worship and prayer at 8 a.m. Breakfast will be served, and you’ll receive your Great Day of Service T-shirt.
Will all projects be off-site, or will some be held on campus?
There will be a mix of opportunities on and off campus.
Will transportation be provided for off-site projects?
No. Everyone is responsible for their own transportation to the site.
What if it rains that day?
Each project will have a rain plan, so plan to attend regardless of weather! More information will be available from your project captain if rain is in the forecast.
How long will the projects last?
Most projects will last approximately three to four hours or whenever your project is finished. Some projects may be shorter (younger children) and some could last longer. Please check the times listed next to each project on the registration page for approximate durations.
